Cats on Tuesday - What Mitzi Saw

I saw Mitzi by the back door this morning, doing her meerkat thing...you know, perching on her haunches and peering. I wondered what had caught her interest.

There on the patio concrete was a reptile. It started to move behind my ferns as I shot inside to get the camera. By the time I came out it had disappeared. However, I saw it behind some of Fred's terracotta pots.

It was a blue tongued lizard, a very fat one, so I gather it was a female. It would have been about 1.5 metres long and was leisurely crawling through the grass and around the pot plants, blue tongue flickering in and out tasting the air. Jane and I watched it for some time and managed to get photographs.

Here it is, just coming out from behind the pots. There are some more photos on the Kat's Cradle blog.

That is a interesting Lizard! We have no lizards here.
Luna would try to catch it...
The mice are less here in northern Germany. The fields are empty. Maybe they have already hibernation.

Ohhh we dont have lizards here either.. I think my two would have been quite interested in it too!

Billy and Lilly bring in moths, mainly but did donate a tiny live frog to the inside of the house once.. I caught it and let it out again (having, of course given much praise for the capture) lol.
